Since 1989, the Colorado Haiti Project has been sending mission trips to Petit trou de Nippes. Mission is at the heart of the Colorado Haiti Project. While the hands-on services provided on any mission are invaluable for both those being served as well as those doing the serving, the relationships that develop and the spiritual growth that many experience through mission is equally important and some would say, most important. The relationships that have been born out of mission have served as the foundation for the Colorado Haiti Projects' present day engagement with the larger community.

In past years, the vast majority of mission trips were dedicated to the physical health of the community. More recently, as a result of the growth of the mission at St. Paul's, as well as our ever increasing collaboration with the larger community, the number and types of mission opportunities have grown.

Today many opportunities are available through the Colorado Haiti Project for visiting Haiti. These include medical missions, educational missions, environmental missions, and insight trips.

Medical Mission:

12 - 14 day trip focused on health care for individuals, some of whom travel days on foot or by donkey to be seen by a doctor or nurse. Up to 2000 children and adults receive health care free of charge.

Education Mission:

10 - 12 day trip focused on in-service training for teachers at St. Paul's School as well as teachers from throughout the region in the development of curriculum, teaching methods and advanced education.

Environmental Mission:

10 - 12 day trip focused on water, sanitation, agronomy and reforestation. Participants work in partnership with members of the local community in some or all of these areas.

Insight Trips:

5 - 10 day trip aimed at providing an overview of the region served by the Colorado Haiti Project; the people, the culture, the projects and programs. Groups are intentionally small, 2 - 4 people to provide an intimate experience.
