Approximate Population Served: 15,000

Estimated Budget $300,000

Goals of the Project
water

To provide clean water to the identified region by drilling 10 to 12 water wells, strategically located at an elevation high enough to avoid problems associated with salinity (due to the proximity to the sea), while at the same time providing energy, in the form of static pressure head, to freely distribute the water through a series of pipelines and public fountains.

To train people from the local community to govern and maintain the anticipated water wells and distribution system.*

To initiate a community health program in order to instruct people from the local community in basic hygiene and sanitation as well as in the use of in-home water filters and the purification of water.

water

To provide seed funds for a small industry to produce water filters for in-home use.

To construct a tree nursery and begin a program of education in order to launch a reforestation program aimed at preserving and eventually restoring local water sources.

*Note: A local water advisory committee has already been formed
