SHare Program

The first phase of the SHARE Program was a cafeteria built this summer with a grant from Wish For Haiti, finished with funds from a United Thank Offering grant. The cafeteria design includes hand washing stations for students, proper bathroom and hand washing facilities for cooks, a covered cooking area, and indoor seating. Now children can eat daily nutritious meals at a table, with clean hands, even when it rains!

SHARE:

Student Health Access and Reproductive Education

SHARE stands for Student Health Access and Reproductive Education. The goal of SHARE is two-fold: (1) To improve the health of the students enrolled at St. Paul's School and (2) to have a positive impact on the level of education attained per child as a result of better health within the overall school population.

The program implements various action modalities such as education, preventative care, improved nutrition, implementation of hygienic practices, and collaboration. Ultimately, the program impacts health and well-being of the wider community.

The second phase of the program will be implemented in collaboration with a consultant and the school nurse. The nurse will report to school administrators and CHP allowing for feedback and modifications of the program as needed. The Community Health Nurse, the school administration, the school nurse and CHP will be collaboratively involved in the decision making and monitoring process.  This phase will be implemented by spring of 2012.
